The Real Estate market in Alaska has very much experienced a rapid growth in the last decade. It owes its success much to its breathtaking surroundings, a pretty strong economic base, low taxes, and cultural and ethnic diversities. Alaskans are very modern people. Today, they live in modern homes, shop in classy stores and drive latest model cars. Alaska largest communities of Anchorage, Fairbanks and the capitol of Juneau have fast-food restaurants, theaters, major real estate companies and excellent health care. Alaska’s major advances in communications, transportation and other services in even the most remote villages are connected to modern technology and have television, phone and Internet access. Nearly 42% of Alaska’s residents choose to make their homes in Anchorage, the state’s largest city. “Anchorage is one of America’s most computer-literate cities, so it makes sense to take the next giant step toward a wireless city,” said Mayor Mark Begich, who directed the city’s Information Technology Department. Anchorage Alaska (pop: 275,043), recently issued an RFP for a city-wide wireless network that may result in a universal affordable wireless broadband network throughout the downtown area. The goal is to make one square mile around the downtown area a giant wireless hotspot by sometime this summer, says the Anchorage Daily News. A panel of technology and real estate experts will review proposals and select the firm that scores the highest using a standard rating process. Submitted By: Sandy Sims
